Business Owners: PPP Loan Forgiveness On The Way? | Freeman Capital

New Round Coming

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin appeared on Capitol Hill on Friday, alongside the Small Business Administrator, to talk about the recent PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) loan program that was intended for small businesses. It seems that both parties, Republicans and Democrats, agree that a second round of support aid is in the best interest of all.

As a side note, they also noted that smaller loans (under $150,000) should be automatically turned into grants. That represents about 86% of the roughly 4.9 billion PPP loans issued to date, and about 27% of the $520 billion that went out. Did you get a loan?

How To Prepare

Of course, PPP loans likely didn’t reach the neediest businesses, in what some have described as “Robinhood in reverse.” Minority-owned firms and the less well-connected have had trouble getting what they deserve in this challenging time.
